This was my first time traveling to Japan and also my first time using an eSIM. I used the eSIM on my iPhone 14, and it connected easily. I had also rented a mobile WiFi device, but I mostly used the hotel WiFi. There was one time I forgot the mobile WiFi at the hotel and couldn't use it outside, but I was able to use my laptop by tethering with the eSIM, and the eSIM alone was enough. While traveling on the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka, I felt that the speed slowed down a bit, but it might have been temporary. I'll definitely buy an eSIM again the next time I come to Japan.
